As the Director of Health, Physical Education and
Athletics, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2007-2008
school year. I am extremely excited about the new school year. At
Comsewogue we have seventy-two athletic teams and we are fortunate
to have outstanding athletic facilities at both the high school and
JFK. Our fitness facility at the high school continues to be used by
our physical education classes, intramurals program and athletic
teams. We also offer a fitness class for the Comsewogue community
through our Community Education Program. All of our new grass fields
are being used by our physical education classes and athletic teams.
The three tennis courts at the middle school and six tennis courts
at the high school continue to be widely used by students and
community members. We are also very fortunate to have a new
scoreboard and bleachers at JFK.
The Physical Education and Health departments
continue to strive towards having all students establish life-long
fitness skills that will become part of their lives forever. As
educators it is our responsibility to instill the qualities of a
healthy mind and body. At the primary and secondary levels the
Health and Physical Education curriculum will continue to be aligned
with New York State Learning Standards. At the elementary level we
have incorporated a walking/running unit into our curriculum and
hope that all of our schools and the Comsewogue community will be
participating in our annual 5K Warrior Music/Athletic Scholarship
Race and Fun Run that is open to all. It is becoming a great
traditional event that will be part of the wonderful history that we
have at Comsewogue. The date for this year’s Warrior Scholarship Run
will be Sunday, May 18, 2008. Stay tuned for upcoming information on
how to register. At the high school we are very excited about our
refurbished project adventure course that will be used in physical
education this spring.
Our Interscholastic Athletic program will follow
four basic principles that will be the foundation of Comsewogue
Athletics.
• Commitment/Dedication
Commit to the sport you have decided to participate
in and dedicate yourself to be the best you can be.
• Passion
Believe in what you are doing and make it an
important part of your life.
• Effort
Work hard and good things will happen.
• Have Fun
Enjoy what you are doing and make the most of each
moment.
All our teams’ schedules, results and directions
(away games) can be found on
