As Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, I have the distinct pleasure and the privilege to work collaboratively with parents, guidance counselors, teachers, principals, directors, administrators, and staff throughout the district to serve the Comsewogue school community in meeting the needs of all of our students.

Across the broad area of “Student Services,” my work is focused on providing superior services in the areas of guidance and counseling, particularly at the Middle School and at the High School. Highly skilled in all facets of student guidance and counseling from middle-level issues and subjects to high-school concerns in the planning for colleges and other post-secondary schools, programs, and paths, our Guidance Counselors are critical in the success of our students. Supporting our students’ academic, social, and personal development as they move from secondary school programs to commencement, our Guidance Counselors enable our students to enter highly competitive post-secondary schools and/or begin challenging careers.

In addition, my office oversees the district’s six excellent Library Media Centers. Fully computerized with Internet access, our Library Media Centers provide students up-to-date resources to be successful in their academic studies. Our Library Media Specialists are always ready and willing to provide support and guidance so that our students learn to become lifelong learners, critical evaluators of information, and keepers of knowledge.

Finally, to ensure that mandated federal and state funded programs related to No Child Left Behind continue, my office prepares consolidated grants for our district. I also organize the flow of student data through our student data management systems for State reporting of student performance, which appears on the School Report Cards.

I am happily challenged on a daily basis to serve our students. Yet I remain mindful of what William Butler Yeats perhaps said best: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Inspiring students, parents, and colleagues and supporting their efforts in the pursuit of excellent outcomes for the students of the Comsewogue School District continues to be my charge. Please contact me at extension 474-8184 with any questions or comments regarding any aspect of Student Services.
