Start/End Times for the 2017/18 School Year

NEW START TIMES – 2017-2018

Last year, our school transportation provider informed us that there would be a significant increase in the cost of our buses for the 2017-18 school year – a 30% increase per bus for a total cost of $3,922,958. Our business office and transportation coordinator met with the bus company to explore ways to mitigate the increase – re-configuring the type of buses used (e.g. 28 passenger - vans), some re-routing, and most importantly, the slight change in start times. The result of these changes yielded a total cost of $3,226,200. This saved the district $696,758.

Given the new configuration of buses, the start time for zero period had to remain the same. If we had scheduled zero-period 10 minutes later, we could not use our existing fleet of buses and would have incurred additional costs.

Following are the start/end times for last year and this year:

Parent early morning drop-off times will remain the same as the 2016-17 school year.

UPK start times are not affected

Individual bus routes are currently being tested by the bus company. They have finished the HS and JFK. They are working on the elementary schools now, Once the trial runs are completed, the pick-up/drop-off times for each route will be adjusted as needed..

Suffolk Zone Student Leadership Award Winners

Comsewogue High School student-athletes Lauren Ehrhard and William Grosse were honored by the NYS AHPERD Suffolk Zone Chapter as Suffolk Zone Student Leadership award winners at a ceremony on December 7th.  The seniors were selected based on their leadership qualities in physical education and their strong academic resume.  The Comsewogue School District would like to congratulate Lauren and William.
