Welcome to the
Clinton Elementary School Clinton Avenue is one of four elementary schools in the Comsewogue School District. The student population consists of approximately 450 children in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are devoted to providing a caring and secure environment so that all children can express their individual talents. The entire Clinton Avenue family is dedicated to excellence in all aspects of education. In our ongoing commitment to literacy, we are involved in the Literacy Collaborative Program, which engages students in meaningful experiences focused on reading, writing, listening and speaking. The program seeks to expand literacy achievement for all students by concentrating on the individual strengths and needs of each child. First graders in need of intensive support work with a Reading Recovery teacher. All students have reading/writing buddies in another grade so that they can reinforce literacy strategies through cooperative learning activities. In the spring, Clinton will feature a local guest on Author Day. Consistent with our belief that each student is unique, we offer students a diverse selection of clubs and enrichment programs to participate in. Students can choose to join clubs such as Literary Magazine, Drama, Math, Science Enrichment, Newspaper, Computer, Just Say No, Art, and Student Council. In addition, we have an increasingly successful music program at Clinton. Students that participate in Band, Orchestra and Chorus can show of their musical abilities by performing in concerts and celebrations throughout the year. Integral to the success of our school is the involvement of the Clinton Avenue PTA. The goal of the PTA is to enhance and support the school in a number of ways. Kindergarten Roundup, Funtastic Day, Spring and Fall Book Fairs, the Holiday Boutique and the Spring Dance are a few of the many wonderful events organized and sponsored by our PTA. This year Toni Ann Deutsch will serve as President. Along with her Executive Board members, she will be seeking your participation to make these activities successful and enjoyable for everyone involved. Thank you for taking an interest in your child’s
development and for sharing in our passion for learning.
