A pair of extraordinary young musicians at Comsewogue High School have been selected to perform with talented musicians from across the eastern United States. CHS senior Elliot Jaklitsch, who plays the French horn, and junior Annmarie Kosak, who plays the harp, have both been invited to perform at the prestigious National Association for Music Education (NAfME) bi-annual Eastern Division Conference in Hartford, Connecticut, this April. Only junior and senior musicians are eligible to perform at NAfME’s conference, Elliot and Annemarie were chosen out of 2,000 applications from students across ten states, Washington DC, and the Department of Defense Schools in Europe.

Additionally, Elliot and Annemarie, along with chorus student Emma Samghabadi, performed in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Winter Conference at the historic Eastman Theater in Rochester last month.

“We are so proud of our exceptionally talented music students who represented Comsewogue with pride at All-State in Rochester last month, and we are so excited for the students who will continue to perform with an incredibly prestigious group of student musicians at All-Eastern,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Quinn. “Their hard work and passion in perfecting their craft with their dedicated teachers has led them to these remarkable accomplishments.”

Elliot, Annemarie and Emma showcased their talents last month along with an elite group of 826 musicians and vocalists at the 2024 All-State Festival and Winter Conference in Rochester. Elliot, a multi-instrumentalist, performed on the cello, while Annemarie played the harp and Emma performed in the treble chorus.
