New Courses Coming to CHS This Fall
Books with subjects written on the spine

With each new school year comes new courses and opportunities for our students. This September, for the 2023-2024 school year, Comsewogue High School will be offering a number new courses throughout many departments, giving students the chance to expand their knowledge into a number of fields.

In the Business department, students in grades 11 and 12 will now be able to enroll in Marketing. In this class, students will learn how to analyze business situations, use marketing strategies to appeal to customers, and understand the overall influence marketing has on a company’s success. In addition, students will have the opportunity to develop their own marketing campaigns, create commercials and advertisements, and even participate in focus groups and case studies.

Juniors will have the opportunity to take American Civilization, a combined, co-taught class that satisfies the English 11 and United States History requirements. This course will foster interdisciplinary scholarly inquiry by providing in-depth study of the literature and major events of American civilization.

For students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field, our new Health Professions course may be of interest. This course will enable students to see healthcare science, concepts of health/wellness, and preventative care. Students would be exposed to the various different jobs that are in the healthcare industry and shown what it takes to become one of these individuals.

Our 9th grade students will have a new experience in Physical Education. Students will be exposed to all facets of our Physical Education program, with participation in team sports, personal fitness and adventure education. Students will then in grades 10-12 have the opportunity to further explore these programs through other Physical Education courses.

Other new courses that have been added for the 2023-2024 school year include AP Research, Sociology and Global Ethics, Mock Trial and Debate and Creating Writing I & II. Course descriptions, prerequisites and more can be found in the Comsewogue High School Course Catalog.
