Our high school business students recently competed in the Virtual Enterprise International Youth Business Summit competition in New York City. One of our business firms, “Gimme Golf” finished in the Top 11 in the nation for their business plan! They are also one of 3 Long Island schools that advanced to the semifinals. We couldn’t be more proud of what our students have accomplished! The students that presented at represented Gimme Golf were Brayden Arias, Kaeden West, Kyle Buck, Vincent Cutaia and Sophia Deja.
Comsewogue’s “Gimme Golf” and “Pampered Paws” firms both participated in the trade show at the Javits Center on April 12th. Additionally, students Kayla Hardy, Joy Chen, Michael Canudas and Adastra Cuiffo came to assist their fellow classmates even on a day off from school.
Virtual Enterprise is a hands-on business curriculum where students create all aspects of a real business start-up. Students interview for positions within the company, such as CEO, Vice President of Sales, Marketing Director and even Director of Human Resources. They create a business plan, products, sales projections, advertising, budget, branding and even a workplace code of conduct. Students apply the skills they learn in class to design and develop their business. They compete with over 1000 other firms globally through trade shows and competitions throughout the school year. Today’s competition was invite-only for the top firms globally. The high finish of “Gimme Golf” is just one of the many recent successes of Comsewogue’s award-winning business program.
