About Our Program

As the Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2020-2021 school year. This current year is like no other year, but we will all get through it and be better for it.  I am extremely excited about the new school year. At Comsewogue, we have fifty-nine athletic teams and are fortunate to have outstanding athletic facilities at both the High School and JFK. The majority of our athletic teams were named NYS Scholar Athlete Team Award Recipients last school year and we earned the honor of a School of Excellence for having more than 75% of our teams qualify as NYS Scholar Athlete Teams for the fourth consecutive year.   The three tennis courts at the middle school and six brand new tennis courts at the high school continue to be widely used by our students and community members. .  Our fantastic new turf field was redone three  years ago and is one of the nicest turf fields in Suffolk County and this spring we will be installing new baseball and softball turf fields.

The Physical Education and Health departments continue to strive towards having all students establish life-long fitness skills.  As educators it is our responsibility to instill the qualities of a healthy mind and body. At the primary and secondary levels the Health and Physical Education curriculum will continue to be aligned with New York State Learning Standards. At the high school we are very excited about getting our new project adventure course that is currently being constructed.

Comsewogue Athletic Principles

Our interscholastic athletic program will follow four basic principles that will be the foundation of Comsewogue Athletics.

• Commitment/Dedication: Commit to the sport you have decided to participate in and dedicate yourself to be the best you can be.

• Passion: Believe in what you are doing and make it an important part of your life.

• Effort: Work hard and good things will happen.

• Have Fun: Enjoy what you are doing and make the most of each moment.

You can also go to the Section XI website for information pertaining to Suffolk County Athletics and our sports teams' schedules.
