About Our Program
As the Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2024-2025 school year. I am extremely excited about the new school year. At Comsewogue, we have sixty athletic teams and are fortunate to have outstanding athletic facilities at both the High School and JFK. This past year, we were named a NYS Scholar Athlete School of Excellence for having more than 75% of our varsity teams qualify as NYS Scholar Athlete Teams. The six tennis courts at the high school and JFK continue to be widely used by our students and community members. Our fantastic turf field was renovated seven years ago and is one of the nicest turf fields in Suffolk County. In the Spring of 2021 we installed new baseball and softball turf fields. They are absolutely beautiful and I could not be prouder of how they turned out. In 2022, our brand new John N. Swenning Sr. Press Box was completed and it is an amazing building utilized by all.
The Physical Education and Health departments continue to strive towards having all students establish lifelong fitness skills. As educators it is our responsibility to instill the qualities of a healthy mind and body. At the primary and secondary levels the Health and Physical Education curriculum will continue to be aligned with New York State Learning Standards. At the high school we are very excited about our new project adventure course.
