
Our 2022-2023 Varsity winter season has been full of outstanding accomplishments by our student-athletes. Additionally, all of our varsity teams for the winter season were named a New York State Scholar Athlete Team, with 75% of the members of each team having a GPA of 90 of higher.
Here are some of the highlights from some of our teams this winter:
Boys Winter Track
At the Boys Small School County Championship on Sunday, February 5th, Richie Russo placed 2nd in the long jump with the second-farthest jump in our school's history at 20'10.5". Christian Scholl took 5th place in the 1,000 meter run, breaking his own school record in the event that he set earlier this season with a time of 2:41.70. Anthony Soares placed 5th in the 600 meter run with the 6th fastest time in school history of 1:28.12.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Andrew Lunarola, Anthony Soares, Tommy Autino and Christian Scholl set a school record at the championship as well, breaking their own school record set earlier in the season, running a time of 8:50.25.
Girls Winter Track
At the Girls Small School County Championship on Saturday, February 4th, Lexie Cole placed 3rd in the 3,000 meter run, setting a new school record with a time of 10:15.17, breaking her own school record from earlier this season. Madison Cole set a school record in the 1,500 meter run, taking fourth place with a time of 4:47.14.
Hermione Granger set two personal bests, running 5:20.12 in the 1,500 meter run and 3:23.68 in the 1,000 meter run. Adastra Cuiffo also set a personal best in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:17.10. The 4x400 meter relay team of Madelyn Serxner, Grace Jos, Madison Cole and Lexie Cole took third place, and Madelyn Serxner placed fifth in the long jump with a jump of 15'11.5".
Earlier in the season, Madison Cole set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.10, and the 4x800 meter relay team of Madison Cole, Grace Jos, Hermoine Granger and Lexie Cole set a school record with a time of 10:16.22.
Wrestling
Mason Mangialino was victorious in the 110 lb. weight class in the League V Wrestling Tournament. This win secured Mason’s 100th career Varsity Win.
Bowling
On our Boys Bowling team, Anthony Manetta took 3rd place in the Section XI Singles Tournament. On our Girls Bowling team, Abby and Izzy Grillo took first place in the B division of the Section XI Doubles Tournament.
Boys & Girls Basketball
Both of Varsity Boys Basketball and Varsity Girls Basketball teams have made the playoffs! Brackets for the basketball playoffs will be released on Friday, Februray 10th.
Cheerleading
Our Varsity Cheerleading team is competing at UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida from February 10th - February 12th. We wish our cheerleaders good luck! Go Warriors!
Swimming
Noah Giunta and Ethan Placencia-Nazareno each qualified for the NYSPHSAA Swimming State Championships. They will also both be competing in the upcoming Section XI Championship on Saturday, February 11th at Stony Brook University.
