Comsewogue DECA Students Come with Awards from the ICDC Conference
This past week, from April 25th - 29th, DECA held their International Career Development Conference for 2026. Over 26,000 students from all over the United States, Canada and other countries around the world competed in various exams, role-plays and presentations for numerous business related categories. Comsewogue School District had two students attend the conference this year.
Senior, Jace Mas earned a spot in the Aspire Academy following his top 10 finish at the New York State Conference in the Human Resources Management. Jace was one of 15 of students from New York that was eligible to be enrolled. He has graduated from the DECA Leadership Aspire Academy with new skills, and contacts from all over the world. “Before DECA, I was unable to speak in front of people without shaking, but thanks to DECA I can now confidently speak in front of large groups of people. Along the way, I met people I’ll never forget, made memories I’ll always carry, and grew into someone I’m truly proud of,” said Jace.
DECA ICDC 3-time veteran Dillon Order was able to compete in the competition for the international conference in the category of Quick Service Restaurant Management. He completed the exam and two role playing scenarios. Dillon earned a silver medal for his score on the exam which was top 10 in the world. This was Dillon’s highest finish and the highest for Comsewogue School District. When asked about his experience, Dillon stated, “My three years in DECA have provided me with countless phenomenal opportunities. From networking, public speaking experience, and endless fun, I could not be more grateful for my time in DECA."
Earlier this year, Comsewogue High School sent 10 students to the State Competition in Rochester. “Comsewogue DECA is the strongest it’s ever been,” said Dr. Heberer, District Administrator for Instructional Technology and supervisor of the Business Department. “What Mr. Parente has done with our students in his first year as DECA advisor and first year teacher in Comsewogue is nothing short of extraordinary - our students and community are lucky to have him.” When asked about Comsewogue DECA, Mr. Parente said, “Being able to provide the opportunities for our students to apply their knowledge and compete at the state level and international level has been incredibly rewarding. DECA is a great experience for all students, and I am excited for the future of Comsewogue DECA.”
Congratulations to Dillon, Jace, and all of our DECA students this year! You all make Comsewogue very proud.
